Abstract
We shall be interested in the finite gap ansatz for the semiclassical focusing NLS initial value problem with bell-shaped initial data. Our ultimate aim is to state a corresponding theorem that gives us the semiclassical behavior of the solutions of this problem, which in turn is given in terms of a theta function on a corresponding Riemann surface.
